What is Lineup Advisor?
Lineup Advisor is a revolutionary service that pools the resources of the Lineup Advisor community to help you identify the best players and when to start them and which players to avoid.
How does Lineup Advisor work?
Lineup Advisor is simple. You predict whether a player (or players) will overperform or underperform his projected point total (based on Yahoo! Fantasy Sports standard league scoring settings). We pool your prediction(s) with the rest of the Lineup Advisor community. Then, we share the pooled predictions with you. This helps you optimize your lineup by starting the right players, picking up the right free agents, and telling you which players to avoid.
Do I have to predict every player’s projection at the position I choose?
No! The premise of Lineup Advisor is that each of us is a subject matter expert for a particular team (or teams) and/or player (or players). For example, let’s say you’re an avid San Francisco 49ers fan and you watch every game. Not only that but you read all the beat writer’s tweets, articles, and predictions. In this instance, you’re probably very qualified to offer predictions on the 49ers. After all, you probably know what weather this week’s game has, you probably have a good idea of how the team performed last week, and you have an idea of what strengths and weaknesses the 49ers have against the next opponent. That’s your sweet spot and that’s where you should rank!
Similarly, you may not have a favorite NFL team; rather, you may deeply invested in the players on your fantasy football team. Maybe you read articles about that player and his team, you look at his advanced stats, and you know that the rainy weather means your RB is in for a heavier-than-normal workday. That’s your sweet spot and you should be predicting those players you’re knowledgeable about!
Of course, you can predict as many or as few players as you want but we want to assure you that you aren’t required to rank anything beyond just one player/defense.
What projections do you use?
We use the projections from a standard Yahoo! Fantasy Sports league which are scored as follows for offensive players:
- Passing yards = 25 yards per point
- Passing TDs = 4 points
- Interceptions = -1 point
- Rushing yards = 10 yards per point
- Rushing TDs = 6 points
- Reception = 0.5 points (per reception)
- Receiving yards = 10 yards per point
- Receiving TDs = 6 points
- Return TDs = 6 points
- 2 point conversion = 2 points
- Fumble lost = -2 points
- Offensive fumble return TD = 6 points
Defenses/Special Teams are scored as follows:
- Sack = 1 point
- Interception = 2 points
- Fumble recovery = 2 points
- Touchdown = 6 points
- Safety = 2 points
- Blocked kick = 2 points
- Kickoff/Punt Return TD = 6 points
- 0 points allowed = 10 points
- 1-6 points allowed = 7 points
- 7-13 points allowed = 4 points
- 14-20 points allowed = 1 point
- 21-27 points allowed = 0 points
- 28-34 points allowed = -1 point
- 35+ points allowed = -4 points
- Extra point returned = 2 points
Will you support standard (i.e., non-PPR) league scoring?
That’s the plan. For now, while in beta, we had to choose one scoring system to make things easy.
Why can’t I see my projections?
Right now, our site is in beta meaning that we only have a limited set of features available. We plan to add this feature soon though!
How can I see the results for a particular player?
Currently, our feature set is limited so we send you a weekly update (on Saturday) which is why we ask for your email address.
Not that you asked but letting you view player results in real-time is a road map priority. (This also makes our lives much easier!)
What can you do to make this happen? You can help many ways – submitting projections each week, providing feedback, and telling your friends (not league mates though) and spreading the word on social media.
Can I get this week’s results even if I didn’t rank players?
Right now, the only way to get the results is to fill out the survey. While Lineup Advisor is in beta, it’s most efficient for us to automate the sending of the results. (Also, you really should make some projections!)
How do I get in touch?
For questions, comments, feedback, you can contact us at email@example.com or go to this page.
What if I have feedback?
What is your roadmap?
We have lots of exciting features we plan to add. While we can’t spill all the beans here, just know that these features all have the following in common – helping users like you dominate your league and demonstrate your fantasy prognostication chops!
